At Kalyna, we believe you deserve to know what’s in your perfume, and just as importantly, what’s not. Every drop of our fragrance is thoughtfully formulated to be clean, non-toxic, and transparently sourced without compromising on scent, luxury, or quality.
Our natural isolates are produced using green chemistry and meet the ISO 9235European standard for natural ingredients (which is stricter than U.S. laws).
Ingredient Types Explained
Natural Isolate
A single, pure chemical compound extracted directly from a natural source such as a plant or fruit (e.g., vanillin from vanilla beans or citral from lemongrass).
Key: 100% derived from nature but purified to isolate one specific molecule.
Natural Synthetic (also called Nature-Identical Synthetic)
A compound chemically identical to a natural molecule but produced in a lab through synthesis rather than extracted from plants.
Often more sustainable, consistent, and cost-effective (e.g., synthetic vanillin).
Key: Lab-made but mimics natural compounds exactly at the molecular level
Essential Oil
A concentrated, volatile oil extracted from plant parts like leaves, flowers, or bark via steam distillation or cold pressing.
Captures the plant’s natural aroma and therapeutic properties.
Key: 100% natural, aromatic oils responsible for a plant’s characteristic scent.
Botanical Extract
A substance derived from plants using solvents such as water or alcohol to capture beneficial compounds.
Provides scent, color, or skin-nourishing properties, often less concentrated than essential oils.
Key: Natural plant-derived ingredients used for fragrance and skincare benefits.
The Truth About “Fragrance” on Labels
The word “fragrance” or “parfum” is often used by brands to mask a long list of hidden synthetic chemicals. At Kalyna, we do things differently.
We only use the term where required by law, to describe our proprietary, non-toxic, clean, and fully vetted blend of ingredients. No surprises. No compromises.
